The current featured article is "BREAKING THE PATTERN: ALAN GARNER'S THE OWL SERVICE AND THE MABINOGION"
This paper was presented at Mythcon 24 in 1993. It was an opportunity for me to write about a lovely little book I had always enjoyed. Years later, it had the advantage of being a rare piece of scholarship on the works of Alan Garner, which led to it being selected for inclusion in THE CHILDREN'S LITERATURE REVIEW, vol. 130.
I hope you will enjoy it!

The Greater Los Angeles Writers Conference was held July 20 through 22, 2012 at the Los Angeles Valley College. It was the first year for the conference, and generally speaking it went off pretty well. I attended as a speaker, … Continue reading
Next weekend, I’ll be one of the speakers at the Greater Los Angeles Writers Conference, giving presentations on both Friday and Saturday. On Friday, at 4:45, I’ll be teaming with Maxwell Alexander Drake to discuss “Location, Location, Location”. Basically discussing … Continue reading
I’ll be attending WonderCon this year – since it’s “nearby” in Anaheim. I’ll be a little less fan-girl and a bit more researcher. Plus I’ll be selling (or trying to sell) copies of my book at the GLAWS booth. I … Continue reading
Yesterday, the GLAWS Special Speaker Event was a panel of literary agents talking about their side of the business, what they look for, how they go about placing books with publishers. The discussion included the changes that e-publishing and the … Continue reading
For the last 2 years, I’ve taken part in a science fiction/horror/fantasy critique group as part of GLAWS. We’ve met pretty consistantly, once a month, usually at the Venice library on a Saturday afternoon. This month, however, because of various … Continue reading
