It’s been a busy few weeks, which has delayed my doing an update to the website. But there are now at last some new additions.
The Blogspot blog has a new entry, “The Age of Entitlement.”
There are new reviews: two graphic books, Birds of Prey and the feature review Lions, Tigers and Bears; a science fiction book; and a non-fiction book on psychology.
I’m putting up a new (to the website) poem “Day Break”. Although it was written when I was in college (and on a sonnet-writing kick), it recalls a summer morning from when I was about 11. I had slept over at my best friend’s home. We’d made a tent of blankets in her back yard, talked (as kids will do on a sleep-over) as we watched some bats wheeling about in the night sky beyond the tree branches over our heads. In the morning, while it was still dark, her father woke us and took us out to the lake. We launched their boat while the sky was still grey and got out in deep water to fish. I’d never fished before. There was a little bit of haze over the water at first. The lake was still, like glass. It was very quiet. There was something magical being out on the lake in silence when the sun came up.
The evening before the film Amazing Grace opened, I had a chance to see it at a screening for InterMission. HERE is the review for it. If you get a chance to see the movie, do so.
On March 16-17, I attended the Wizard World LA 2007 comic book convention. HERE is the convention report.
